United Prayer for Grand Rapids

Vision

We feel called to respond to Jesus' prayer for unity in John 17, by coming together in prayer for our city and region.

John 17: 22-23:

I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

We are also inspired by God’s promises to his people in the Old Testament in 2 Chronicles.

2 Chronicles 7:14:

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Based on these passages, this is our vision for a time of United Prayer for our region:

This Gathering will be a community of people called together from various cultures, generations, and denominations to seek the face of God in prayer. We will gather in unity as the Church with the sole purpose of crying out to God in one accord on behalf of the Grand Rapids area. As a Christ-centered community, approaching the throne of grace in repentance and worship, together we will pray for God to transform our city and region.
